Find all the essential information to prepare your trip to or from Strasbourg airport: flights, available services, means of transport to reach the city center... we'll tell you everything!

An international airport

Located in the communes of Entzheim, Holtzheim, and Duppigheim, Strasbourg airport is part of the European Community of Alsace, in the Grand Est region. With its first commercial flight in September 1923, it is one of the oldest in France! In a hundred years of existence, it has seen the most prestigious aircraft take off (Concorde, Air Force One) and historical figures such as Pope John Paul II or President Barack Obama pass through.

The structure experienced strong development at the end of the 20th century and saw its air traffic plummet during the Covid period. The establishment of the Strasbourg-Paris TGV East line contributed to this decline in activity. In addition, the proximity of 4 international airports has also accentuated the phenomenon:

  • Frankfurt 200 km to the north;
  • Basel-Mulhouse 130 km to the south;
  • Luxembourg 200 km to the west;
  • Stuttgart 140 km to the east.

Another competitor, Baden Airpark, west of Baden-Baden, is less than 40 km north of Strasbourg Cathedral. It hosts regional flights from popular low-cost airlines, attracting many travelers.
