Nuremberg’s biggest landmark towers over the city from a sandstone ridge. In the Middle Ages, the Kaiserburg served as the residence of Emperors, who conducted their official business from here. Today, visitors can admire the imperial rooms with their artworks, tapestries and furniture, a deep well and an extensive collection of weapons and equipment from the imperial era. House of Dürer

Albrecht Dürer's house

Discover the Dürerhaus, a place where Albrecht Dürer spent a large portion of his life. ‘Agnes Dürer’, the strong woman at Albrecht’s side, guides you through the art and the achievements of one of the Renaissance's most important artists. It also provides a glimpse into the everyday lives of the artist’s family, from her work in the kitchen and the home, to illustrious guests and hardworking residents, as well as her relationship with Albrecht Dürer. The living room, kitchen and art studio offer an insight both into the life of Dürer himself, as well as the proud and wealthy imperial city of Nuremberg in the 16th century.

Nürnberger Frauenkirche

Nürnberger Frauenkirche

One of Nuremberg’s three most important churches is located on the Hauptmarkt. The Gothic Frauenkirche is home to many important works of art, including the three oldest stained glass windows in Nuremberg, the Tucher alter, two Epitaphs and panel paintings. Every year, the Christ Child opens the world-famous Nuremberg Christmas Market from the church’s balcony.

Nuremberg Zoo

A warm welcome to one of Europe’s biggest zoos! With its ancient woodlands, idyllic forests, natural wetlands and exotic animals living harmoniously amongst native bird species, Nuremberg’s zoo is among the most beautiful in Germany. A further highlight is the popular miniature railway ‘Little Adler’, an exact replica of the first German railway at a scale of 1:2. The children’s zoo invites young visitors to stroke, feed and romp with the animals.

Nassauer Haus

Nassauer Haus

One of Nuremberg’s most famous attractions is located opposite the Lorenzkirche. The Nassauer Haus is the only preserved residential tower in Nuremberg. Its corner towers not only served a defensive function, but also held decorative and symbolic significance. The 800-year-old cellar now houses a restaurant, in which Frankish specialties can be sampled.

Schöner Brunnen

Schöner Brunnen

The Schöne Brunnen is an impressive building, featuring a variety of figures over four levels. The four rows of figures represent philosophy, the seven liberal arts, the four evangelists with members of the clergy, the seven electors of the emperor, nine heroes from world history and Moses with the seven prophets. According to legend, those who circle once around the golden ring on the fence will be granted three wishes. Those who circle it three times will have many children.

Weißgerbergasse

Weißgerbergasse

Transport yourself back in time to the Middle Ages with a visit to the Weißgerbergasse! In this historic laneway, twenty half-timbered buildings have been preserved in their original condition. In the past, tanners used animal skins from calves, sheep or goats to make leather here. Today, you can relax in one of several cafes, and get a sense of what things were like in a previous era.

Justizpalast

Palace of Justice

Nuremberg’s Palace of Justice is a highly significant site. It was here, in room 600, that the Nuremberg trials took place after the Second World War. In the chamber, audio and video presentations bring history back to life. On the 20th of November 1945, the trials of those responsible for the Nazi regime opened. In the course of the trials, which lasted 218 days, the testimonies of survivors painted an unprecedented insight into the horrors of the war. There are only limited opportunities to view room 600, as the chamber continues to be used for legal proceedings to this day.

Lorenzkirche

Lorenzkirche

The origins of the Lorenzkirche can be traced back to the 13th century. Building began in 1243 and continued until 1315. Its gothic basilica survived the centuries that followed largely unscathed. However, the church and many of its priceless artworks fell victim to the bombing campaigns of the Second World War. It wasn’t until 1952 that services were able to be held in the church once again. The church’s most beautiful treasures include the Annen Altar, the Angel’s Salute and the Sacrament House.

Staatstheater Nürnberg

The Opera House, located on Richard-Wagner-Platz, is just 200m from the B&B Hotel Nürnberg-City. Dating from 1905, the building is not just impressive from the outside. The theatre’s interior is regarded as one of the most beautiful in all of Germany. Opera, theatre, ballet and musical concerts are among its repetoire of events. An Operatic Ball is held every year in Autumn. Guests can alternate between several different dance-floors with different musical styles at each. Tickets can be booked online, over the telephone or at the box office.

Toy Museum

The world of the Toy Museum is varied, and offers excitement for young and old. One area of the museum is entirely devoted to wooden toys, another to dolls and doll’s houses, another to technical toys such as metal construction kits, steam engines and much more. Naturally, there is also a section devoted to more recent toys. Barbie, Lego and Game Boys are familiar to many visiting children. The Museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on the weekends from 10am to 6pm.

Approximately The Playmobil-Funpark is located in Zirnberg, 20 minutes from Nuremberg. On an area of around 90,000 sqm, this oversized world of adventure promises an exciting and varied day out for all the family. Explore the paddle-lake on colourful powered paddle-boats. Young and old can also test their balance on the balancing course and the magnificent Knight’s Castle conquered via climbing walls. A separate winter play park and climbing wall park ensure that the park is equally enjoyable to visit in the Winter months.
