The Strasbourg Exhibition and Convention Center is a major center for commercial, cultural, and institutional events in the region. Discover this ultra-modern complex!

Strasbourg Exhibition Center: a modern and versatile facility in the city center

The Strasbourg Exhibition Center was built in 2022. It replaces the old facilities dating from 1930 named Palais d'Exposition au Wacken and demolished as part of the redevelopment of the Wacken exhibition area. The objective: to modernize the sector to meet the demand of a demanding clientele in the competitive market of entertainment and business tourism.

The work is part of the Archipel project aimed at creating a new international business district in the heart of the conurbation. Composed of offices, housing, services, and shops, the district is mainly dedicated to hosting activities of higher tertiary level. The city wishes in particular to attract renowned international companies to strengthen the economic attractiveness of the Eurometropolis. Adidas France and Puma France have notably set up their headquarters there.

A unique design combining modernity and sustainability

This 24,000 m2 event site has 4 modular halls, an outdoor exhibition space, and a nave with a ceiling height of 10 m. The building's terrace offers a panoramic view of the city.

Created by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the construction combines aesthetics and functionality and integrates perfectly into the urban environment. Noble, natural, and warm, wood is fully highlighted in the construction in homage to the Alsatian tradition, the 4th largest forest region in France. The building is also designed in accordance with the requirements of the Eurometropolis climate plan and incorporates various ecological devices: rainwater recovery, photovoltaic panels, natural light and ventilation. The geocooling system connected to the water table allows the installations to be cooled naturally. A perfect synergy of design, architecture, and nature!

The PEX is connected to the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès (PMC), offering the possibility of sharing spaces and hosting several events at the same time.

Events organized at the PEX

Trade and public fairs, general meetings, conventions, sporting events, fairs, festivals, congresses... Many large-scale events are organized each year at the Strasbourg exhibition center:

  • The European Fair of Strasbourg is one of the most popular events organized in the region. It attracts more than 400 exhibitors and nearly 200,000 visitors to the Wacken district in September. Different worlds are to be explored (European Village, Village of Delights, Village of French Polynesia, Village of the Social and Solidarity Economy, Agricultural Village, etc.). Various artistic and cultural animations punctuate each new edition.
  • The Saint-Jean Fair takes place every year from the end of June to mid-July. This gigantic funfair delights thrill-seekers. From the top of the Ferris wheel, the view of the rooftops of Strasbourg is magnificent!
  • In February, the Alsatian capital hosts the Salon des Vignerons Indépendants, an event allowing to meet passionate wine producers and taste their production. Organic wines, grand crus classés or small producers: there is something for everyone.
  • Essential for tourism professionals, the Tourissimo fair is dedicated to well-being, holidays, and leisure.
  • In November, the Salon des métiers d’Art de Strasbourg, organized by the Fremaa (federation of arts and crafts of Alsace), is held. Artists and artisans from all over France gather in Wacken for the occasion and present their creations to the public.
  • ST-ART, the European Fair of Contemporary Art and Design, brings together a hundred French and European exhibitors who showcase contemporary artistic creation.

In partnership with the PMC, the park's teeming agenda also includes musical shows, concerts, and humorous shows.
