Nowy Targ is an extremely picturesque town situated in the Podhale region and at the same time the main communication and industrial centre in the south of Lesser Poland. The advantages of the city and its surroundings attract many tourists who want to relax and enjoy the nature. As the name of the town (New Market) suggests, it is a place with a rich trade history. For centuries, numerous trade exchanges, such as fairs, took place here.
 

A city for fans of active recreation

Nowy Targ is a perfect place for active leisure enthusiasts. There are many hiking trails around the town, from which you can admire the unique mountainous landscape. In addition, you can use the extensive infrastructure for sports such as skiing, mountain kayaking, cycling or ice hockey.

In Nowy Targ there is the only aero club in the Podhale region where you can experience a glider or balloon flight as well as a parachute jump. Emotions guaranteed!

Fairs in Nowy Targ

Held every Thursday and Saturday at ul. Targowa. It is a unique place of trade, where you can get interesting items for an affordable price. Even the inhabitants of nearby Slovakia come to the fair in Nowy Targ.

The Museum of Printing

A unique place on the map of Nowy Targ, where you can find valuable printing exhibits, including a unique printing machine from the mid-19th century. Original printing machines and printouts allow the visitors to get closer to the impressive history of the city.

St Catherine’s Church

The interior design of the church comes mainly from the Baroque period. A characteristic element that attracts attention is a beautiful bell tower and a tower covered with a baroque helmet. During the summer season, in the church of St Catherine, you can listen to exceptional organ concerts.

The Museum of Podhale

It is located in the City Hall of Nowy Targ. Inside, you can admire more than 7,000 interesting exhibits, such as ceramics from Podhale or sculptures by well-known local artists e.g. Michał Rekucki or Edward Sutor.

The biggest attraction of Nowy Targ is its location. It is an ideal base for those planning to spend time in the Gorce, the Pienins, the Tatra Mountains and the Beskids, whose highest peak, Babia Góra, is visible from the hotel windows. Some hiking trails, like the road to Turbacz, start in the city! Lovers of other forms of activity can go on a traditional Dunajec River rafting trip or test the comfortable cycling route around Lake Czorsztyn or the Tatra Mountains. From Nowy Targ it is also close to Slovakia and the local Tatra trails.
