The must-see event in Le Mans is undoubtedly the 24 Hours of Le Mans, organized every year by the city of Le Mans and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest during the second weekend in June.
It’s a legendary race track. Located in the south of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Le Mans race track (also known as the Circuit de la Sarthe) hosts the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race and the Le Mans Classic, a classic car race which takes place once every two years. The 13.629 kilometer route is in fact one of the longest tracks in the world.
Throughout the year, tours of the circuit and driving courses (for the more adventurous) are offered on parts of the circuit as well as at the Circuit Bugatti. At the wheel of a Ferrari, a Lamborghini or an Aston Martin, you’ll be filled with thrills and excitement... but you might struggle to equal the fastest lap record, held by the French driver Loïc Duval in a Peugeot 908 HDI FAP in 2010 (3:19:074, if you’re wondering). Until you can buy the car of your dreams, you can safely park your old Citroën 2CV in the Le Mans Circuit hotel private parking lot.
