Girona is, without a doubt, one of the Spanish provinces most recommended for spending a few days on vacation. In addition to having a city with a long history and multiple historical monuments and buildings, it also offers natural jewels such as the spectacular Costa Brava. But, in addition to that, Girona offers a rich cultural offer with the most interesting museums, both to visit with children, as a couple or alone.
If we talk about museums in Girona we have to talk about the Dalí Theatre-Museum, which although it is not in the capital itself, is located in Figueres, within the province of Girona. In addition to being well located and with easy access if we go by car, it is the museum with the most works by the Catalan artist. It is an ideal plan to get closer to the universe of a universal artist with a special sensitivity. Thus, we can enjoy some of his most important works on our visit.
Already in the capital, we find the Museum of Jewish History, located in the heart of the city's Jewish quarter. It is ideal to get closer to the culture of the Jewish communities and their passage through Spain and Catalonia. And within the historical museums, we cannot miss the Girona History Museum, where all centuries of history are reviewed, from the first human remains to the Spanish transition.
We also find the Girona Art Museum, where works from Roman times to the present day are collected. In addition, it is located in a historical enclave, since it is located in what was the building of the Santa Caterina hospital. Here we can see several exhibitions and art galleries that are very rich, as it offers visitors a collection of works that is most interesting.
On these cultural routes, the Archeology Museum cannot be missed either, where the most interesting ruins have been gathered, dating from the centuries before Christ to the Middle Ages. This museum is especially recommended if we like archeology or if we want to do special activities with the youngest members of the family.
The interesting museums do not end here, since we also find the Toy Museum, a unique experience that children will love. The Masó House, where you can appreciate one of the most interesting works by the architect Rafael Masó and the set of all the hanging houses on the Onyar River. And, of course, a separate mention deserves both the Cinema Museum, ideal for lovers of the seventh art and culture in general, and the Girona Cathedral-Treasure Museum, where its famous 12th century tapestry is located. Thus, if we visit the cathedral, in the heart of the city, we can get tickets to enjoy this curious museum.
