Guaranteeing the vestiges of the past, the Écusson in Montpellier is a medieval district dating from the 10th century. It owes its name to its particular shape evoking a pentagon, or even a shield! In the Middle Ages, this fortified district was entered through a drawbridge. The Tour des Pins, the Tour de la Babote and the Porte de la Blanquière, still visible today, also protected access to it.

Place of meeting, walking, going out and shopping in the city center of Montpellier, the Écusson is discovered by strolling through its charming little streets.
