The Route du rock

La Route du rock is a legendary Breton festival which takes place in 2 editions: 

  • The winter collection takes place between the end of February and the beginning of March in Rennes and in the corsair city of Saint-Malo. On this occasion, well-known artists and young talents perform on the stage of the Nouvelle Vague, an essential cultural place in the city.
  • The summer collection takes place in August at the fort of Saint-Père, 15 minutes from the city. Many free concerts are also organized on Bon-Secours beach).

Musical discoveries, illustrious unknowns or legends of pop: all the nuggets of Anglo-Saxon rock meet in Saint-Malo from morning to evening to liven up the summer or warm up the winter! Tickets available in all usual points of sale. 

 

Amazing travelers

This festival is dedicated to lovers of literature, cinema and discoveries. It is a film and book fair that takes place every year in May, during Pentecost. Various events are organized for the occasion: dedications, literary café, public reading competition, screenings, etc. An exciting journey to discover the cultures of the world, for young and old adventurers.

 

Quai des bulles

The Quai des Bulles comic strip and projected image festival celebrates the ninth art every year at the end of October. The program includes numerous exhibitions, games, meetings and shows for an intergenerational audience. Close to the port of Saint-Malo and the historic center.

 

Classical at Large

This major Saint-Malo classical music festival takes place at the Palais du Large during the last week of April. Renowned artists and orchestras perform for the occasion in this superb space located on the seafront, with a breathtaking view of the beaches of Saint-Malo. 

 

World Folklores

Folklores du monde is a music and dance festival offering a rich and varied program. It takes place at the beginning of July and kicks off the summer festivities. In the afternoon or evening, it brings the districts and parks of Saint-Malo to life to the rhythm of music from the four corners of the world. 

 

Documentary Film Month

Are you visiting Saint-Malo in November? Don't miss the screenings shown as part of Documentary Film Month! The event takes place throughout the month of November at the Grande Passerelle, the new cultural center located next to the Saint-Malo train station. Filmmakers and film enthusiasts meet there to discuss after the screenings.

Sacred Music Festival

This Saint-Malo festival has existed since 1972. It takes place within Saint-Vincent cathedral, an architectural treasure located in the heart of the historic center. Some concerts are also played at Sainte-Croix church, in Sainte-Anne hall but also in the lounges of the Demeure du Corsaire, a picturesque museum in Saint-Malo.

On the program, various voice and organ concerts are offered by the largest symphonic ensembles in the region. A choral singing workshop (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses) is also organized free of charge during the festival, by prior registration only.

 

Crossed glances

The Regards croisés festival takes place at the beginning of November. Created in 2009, it is a unique event that highlights a selection of short films on the theme “professions and disabilities”. A disability job dating session is also organized for this occasion. 

 

Guesclin Island Festival

Every summer in July, Guesclin Island opens its doors to music and culture enthusiasts during the Classique sur le Roc festival. Chamber music, jazz, flamenco, traditional Breton music, electro but also dance performances and plays are organized in the heart of nature, on the panoramic terraces of the island. This festival also offers visitors the opportunity to discover one of the prettiest little forts in Saint-Malo, former property of the poet and singer Léo Ferré.
