The 5 beaches of Vigo that are a must-see

When we go on vacation to a place with a coast, we can't miss visiting the best beaches in the area. Also, if our destination is Vigo, a visit to its coast becomes even more of a must to enjoy the Atlantic coastline. And it is that the beaches of Vigo have a beauty that cannot be ignored, since we can find both some with fine white sand reminiscent of the Caribbean, as well as others much more typical of the Galician coast and its rocky landscape. Therefore, we are going to select some of the best beaches in the province of Pontevedra where tourism is almost mandatory.

Beaches of Vigo

Playa de Rodas

This is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Vigo. Its fine white sand together with that feeling of an endless beach make this place an almost obligatory visit, ideal for spending a summer day when we have a blue flag. Playa de Rodas, located in the Cíes Islands, was chosen in 2007 as the best in the world by the British newspaper The Guardian. What more reasons could there be to enjoy the water of the Vigo coast? In fact, it has one of the famous and sought-after blue flags.

Playa de Melide

Within Galicia, this is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and spectacular beaches to enjoy sunny days. It is located in the municipality of Cangas and is known as Cabo Home. In addition, it is practically opposite the Cíes Islands, so the views on the horizon are just as spectacular, typical of the lower estuaries. Access to the beach is quite simple and the proximity of the forest makes it an ideal location not only for a beach day, but also for a walk in front of the sea along the large sandy area it has. Far from urban chaos and completely inserted in nature.

Playa de Figueiras

This small beach more closely resembles the appearance of a cove or several continuous coves, since it does not have the view and breadth of the previous two. However, the beauty of this beach in Vigo is spectacular. Its fine white sand and crystal clear blue waters paint a paradisiacal picture that invites you to enjoy Galician nature. In addition, very close to the beach there are routes to do on foot and enjoy the views while taking a pleasant walk feeling the sea breeze.

Playa América

Located in the municipality of Nigrán, this beach in Vigo offers another alternative option to spend a beach day. It is not surrounded by forest, but is next to the Vigo town and gives that feeling of an endless beach due to its length. Here, the gastronomic and leisure offer by the sea is even greater. It is ideal for taking a bike ride by the sea, remembering childhood or enjoying Galician flavors a few meters from a spectacular beach. Almost more typical of a port area, but maintaining the best essence of natural beaches.

Playa de Nerga

This beach is located in the town of Cangas and has a very special and interesting hippie air. It is also located in Cabo Home and is surrounded by nature and other nearby beaches that are equally spectacular. But perhaps the most striking thing is that the beach bars in the area are fighting to offer the best tapas in the area. So, in addition to enjoying the impressive Galician nature, we can also taste the best Vigo flavors. A unique sensation for all our senses. It is also located close to playgrounds to the delight of the little ones.
