In the immediate vicinity of the A1 and A86, the Stade de France is easily accessible by car. However, on match and concert days, it is better to opt for public transport to avoid traffic jams. How to get from Paris to the Stade de France by train?

Are you arriving from Paris city center or from the provinces by train to attend a show or a match at the Stade de France? First information: the TGV does not yet stop at the Stade de France. Once you arrive in Paris, you must therefore take an RER, a metro, a bus or a tram to get there.

From Gare du Nord to the Stade de France

The RER is the fastest option to get to the largest French stadium from Gare du Nord. You have two possibilities: 

  • take the RER B towards Mitry-Claye-Aéroport CDG 1 and 2 and get off at La Plaine-Stade de France station;
  • take the RER D towards Creil and get off at the Stade de France stop.

 Then allow 15 minutes walk to reach the place.

From Gare du Lyon to the Stade de France

To go from Gare de Lyon to the Stade de France, take the RER D towards Creil and get off at the Stade de France stop.

From Gare Montparnasse to the Stade de France

Several options are available to you to get to the stadium from Montparnasse by public transport: 

  • go to Gare du Nord by metro (line 4, direction Clignancourt) then take the RER B or D to the Stade de France stop;
  • take the metro line 13 towards Saint-Denis université to the Saint-Denis porte de Paris station. Signs then indicate the way to follow by taking the footbridge over the canal.

 For your RER journeys, remember to buy the correct transport ticket! The zones concerned are zones 1 to 2.

 

Saint-Denis Pleyel station: an ultra-modern hub

A stone's throw from the Stade de France, the new Grand Paris Express station is one of the flagship projects of the Saint-Denis Pleyel district. Close to Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine and the Île Saint-Denis, it connects the Pleyel and La Plaine districts via a 300 m bridge above the railway line. The Pleyel crossing will also allow you to quickly reach the Stade de France Saint-Denis station on the RER D. A unique structure in Seine Saint-Denis and the Paris region!

The Saint-Denis Pleyel station and crossing are among the infrastructures planned to facilitate the organization of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The objective: to simplify the travel of athletes and spectators and improve the lives of local residents.

 

Travel from Paris airport to the Stade de France

If you are traveling by plane, you can get to the stadium by RER from Roissy Charles de Gaulle and Orly. 

Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport to the Stade de France

To get to the Stade de France from CDG, take the RER B towards Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse/Robinson.

After about 30 minutes of travel, get off at La Plaine Stade de France station. It will take you 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the site. 

Paris Orly Airport to the Stade de France

From Orly, you will need to take the shuttle (OrlyVal) to Antony to catch the RER B towards Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport / Mitry-Claye. Get off at La Plaine Stade de France station and follow the pedestrian route.

On event days, the RER B transport services adapt to control the large flows of travelers.

Additional trains may be put into service, and the frequency of passages increased. In local stations, agents dressed in red vests are deployed to manage users, avoid jostling and accidents.

If the RER lines are not working, there are other alternatives: 

  • Metro line 13, Saint-Denis - Porte de Paris station is a 10-minute walk from the stadium. Metro line 12 Aubervilliers - Saint Denis Front Populaire station is less than 30 minutes from the stadium. 
  • Tram number 1, Saint-Denis Basilique station, is a 20-minute walk;
  • Tram number 8, Saint-Denis porte de Paris station, is a 10-minute walk.
