What to do in Sao Paulo

No less than the largest city in Latin America, Sao Paulo boasts a variety of attributes. In this megalopolis, it's impossible to get bored, thanks to its impressive array of attractions, whether in terms of culture, gastronomy, leisure, or nightlife.

If you're looking for a complete and vibrant city, with all services available 24 hours a day, there's no doubt that Sao Paulo is the best option. See below for everything the city has to offer:

Visit the city's icons with ease

There are must-see destinations to visit in the capital of Sao Paulo, and best of all, our B&B Hotels in Sao Paulo is close to all of them. You'll be staying in the heart of the city, right downtown, making it easy to get around.

This means you can visit one of the icons of Sao Paulo gastronomy, the Municipal Market, also known as "mercadão," just an 8-minute walk from the hotel. Once at the Market, be sure to devour the famous mortadella sandwich, which is extremely generous, in addition to tasting the various fruits, jams, cereals, cheeses and sausages available, all fresh and of high quality.

Also downtown, notice the old buildings and banks in the region, which are now historical heritage of Sao Paulo. The center is the best place to admire the history of the "old capital," seeing buildings like the Municipal Theater and its eclectic architecture, a symbol of Sao Paulo's belle époque.

We know that the variety of hotels in Sao Paulo can make choosing difficult, but B&B is the best in terms of location, as you can easily reach any part of the city.

Stroll down Avenida Paulista

After this gastronomic tour, take the subway at Luz station, also close to the B&B hotel, and start exploring SP. The tip is to make the first stop at Avenida Paulista, the place that best sums up the soul of the capital. It is best to go on Sundays, when various activities take place along this huge corridor, which is closed to cars on this day of the week.

Street musicians entertain pedestrians, craft fairs are set up, the Trianon Park gardens are full of people wanting to relax and enjoy the weekend. If you want to go shopping, take advantage of Shopping Center 3 and Shopping Paulista, as there are plenty of options.

And for art fans, it's worth visiting MASP (Sao Paulo Museum of Art), a cultural icon of Sao Paulo. There you can spend hours enjoying works of art from all over the world: Renoir, Monet and Van Gogh are among the names of the artists on display. You can also take guided tours of the exhibitions. This way, you will further enrich your visit to what is considered the largest museum in terms of cultural importance in Sao Paulo.

Immersion in other cultures

Sao Paulo is a cosmopolitan metropolis, which is why you will find different cultures in the neighborhoods you venture into. One of the coolest tours is to go to the Liberdade neighborhood, located at Liberdade station, on the blue subway line.

You will see that this is a neighborhood with a strong Japanese influence: many of the local stores sell Japanese food and items, and a Japanese fair takes place on Sundays. The reason? Sao Paulo received many Japanese immigrants in the 1960s, being the city with the largest Japanese community in the world, after Japan. Impressive, right?

Large parks for leisure

Ibirapuera Park is also a favorite of Paulistanos. A visit to this enormous green lung of the capital is almost mandatory. It is there that residents recharge their batteries on weekends, doing physical activities such as walking, running, cycling and trails. All this, of course, accompanied by a cold coconut water sold in the park.

Ibirapuera is one of the main urban parks in Brazil, with a large lake, space for children and native Atlantic forest trees. A true refuge from the daily hustle and bustle of Sao Paulo, and where the Museum of Modern Art is also located.

Nightlife

Sao Paulo has one of the most interesting nightlife in the country. The tips for bars and restaurants are endless, but if you want to get an idea of what Sao Paulo nights are like, take a walk in Vila Madalena, a bohemian place where young people usually gather on weekends.

Vila Madalena is also where the largest open-air graffiti extension is located: you will see this art printed on the walls of the well-known Batman alley. A good choice for a neat photo shoot! Anyway, there are many tours to get to know the capital's nightlife: from Rua Augusta, passing through the center and Faria Lima, there are options for all tastes and budgets.
