A strategic location

Geneva Airport is strategically located just 5km from Switzerland's second largest city. On the right bank of the Geneva canton and in the immediate vicinity of Lake Geneva, it's a convenient gateway for travelers visiting the region. Just a few minutes from the French border, it's also a privileged arrival point for winter sports enthusiasts. During the high season, shuttle buses run daily between the airport and the renowned ski resorts of the French Alps. Last but not least, the airport is also an ideal access point for the surrounding spa resorts (Evian, Thonon, Divonne, etc.). Right next door to Palexpo, it's an excellent gateway to corporate seminars and events at the Palais des Congrès (Geneva International Motor Show, Watches and Wonders, Royaume du Web, etc.).

The Geneva-Cointrin hub is served by numerous international airlines offering scheduled flights to destinations all over the world. It links Switzerland to major European cities, as well as to the major capitals of Africa, Asia, North America and the Middle East. Regional and low-cost airlines also operate from the airport, offering passengers a wide range of travel options. A flight to Paris or Munich, for example, takes just 1h15.

Geneva-Cointrin airport was built at the beginning of the 20th century. Over the years, it has undergone numerous renovations, most notably in the 2000s with the construction of new terminals, additional runways and modern infrastructure to keep pace with growing air traffic and become the leading gateway to Switzerland.

How do I get to Geneva-Cointrin airport?

Geneva airport is well served by public transport (trains, buses and cabs), offering easy access to and from the city center and other destinations in Switzerland and abroad. 

• By train, the airport station can be reached from the Departure and Arrival levels in a five-minute walk. The journey to/from the city center takes just 7 minutes. 
• The TPG (Geneva public transport) city bus network serves the airport (stops on the Registration level) in around 30 minutes.
• By car or cab, the journey takes less than 15 minutes.
