Our B&B Hotels in Thuringia

The land of knight's castles and princely palaces, the Wartburg and the Rennsteig, the Weimar Classic with Goethe and Schiller... That's Thuringia! The federal state is located in the heart of Germany and borders Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Bavaria, Hesse and Lower Saxony. It is the region where one says "no" to "yes" or "demmeln" for cycling.

Goethe aptly summed up the variety of landscapes and architectural styles, the cultural and historical diversity: "Where else in German lands can one find so much good in such a small space? Not only Luther, Bach, Cranach and Otto Dix have left their mark here, but also many of today's top athletes come from Thuringia.

Let yourself be enchanted by the fascinating panoramas of the Thuringian Forest or the medieval flair of the old towns and stay overnight on your trip in our affordable B&B Hotels in Erfurt, Eisenach, Jena, Weimar or Gera. Our comfortable and modern rooms are equipped with TV, air conditioning and free WLAN. Breakfast can be booked optionally and check-in is possible around the clock.

Erfurt - the city of surprises

A first stop leads to the charming state capital Erfurt, which is traversed by the Gera. A special feature of the city are the two sacred buildings located directly next to each other: the Erfurt Cathedral and the Severikirche. Enjoy a tea in one of the many small cafes around the Domplatz or stroll through the impressive Christmas market in December.

The highlight of the beautiful streets and house facades is the Waagegasse near the old synagogue. An absolute highlight, however, is Erfurt's oldest building: the Krämerbrücke. This bridge is built on both sides with half-timbered houses and is one of the most famous landmarks of the state capital. It is Europe's longest bridge that is continuously built with houses.

Other worthwhile places are the Congress Center Erfurt - the second largest exhibition center in the new federal states. Every year, the public is offered varied fairs and exhibitions, events and concerts here. During your visit, also make a detour to the EGA-Park. It is the most important garden monument of the 1960s in Germany. Those who are drawn out into nature should not miss the magnificent view from the Petersberg over the city.

Mysticism and adventure in the Thuringian Forest

It is the Thuringian Forest, this approximately 1000 square kilometer large wooded low mountain range, which makes Thuringia the green heart of Germany. Whether with family, friends or alone, the many hiking and cycling trails offer every visitor an unforgettable stay. Sport is never neglected here: In this popular holiday area you will meet numerous hikers, Nordic walkers and bikers.

The Rennsteig is Germany's most famous and most walked hiking trail with a length of around 170 kilometers. It leads from the Eisenach district of Hörschel over the ridge of the Thuringian Forest to Blankenstein in the northern Frankenwald. On your hike, make a detour to the Wartburg, where Luther once found refuge.

Near Oberhof, winter sports enthusiasts will find winter activities and winter cycling trails. Those who prefer to stay warm should treat themselves to a spa & wellness stay in one of the numerous brine and sulfur baths.

The forgotten treasures

In addition to the Bauhaus and the Goethe and Schiller city of Weimar or the student city of Jena, smaller towns are also worth a visit. The arms city of Suhl is located in the Franconian-influenced south and is a historical location of armaments companies, but also a city of hunting weapons production. As the most nature-rich city in the south of the Thuringian Forest, it is also a hiking paradise. Over 300 kilometers of cycling and hiking trails as well as 100 kilometers of ski trails await you!

West of Suhl is Meiningen with the mountain of the same name, on which Landsberg Castle towers. It is one of the most beautiful pleasure palaces in the Free State and is located high above the Werra Valley. Since the 19th century, it has been one of the most famous landmarks of the region.

Not far from Meiningen is Schmalkalden, the quiet half-timbered town with its small streets and the idyllic old town. The historic town hall, Wilhelmsburg Castle and the Luther House are popular sights. By the way: Schmalkalden is the cradle of Vita Cola, the Viba nougat bar, the best Thuringian bratwurst and last but not least toilet paper.

On the subject of gastronomy: It is said that in Thuringia no grill can do without it, but the cuisine here is not limited to just the grilled sausage. roulades, dumplings, beer soup and delicious sheet cakes are also on the menu.

Whatever your gastronomic preferences: The B&B Hotels look forward to your visit!
