The essential museums of Zaragoza

Zaragoza has interesting museums that you cannot miss on your visit to the city. Here you will find important works of art and artist collections, which are worth seeing, but you will also find some curious museums and others dedicated to that Roman past, which is a very important part of the history of the capital of Aragon. Below, we are going to tell you about those museums that you have to write down on your travel list.

The most famous museums

On many occasions, talking about Zaragoza is talking about Francisco de Goya, one of the most important painters in the history of Spain and with great fame throughout the world. If you like art and painting, the Goya Museum of Zaragoza is a must for you. It is located in the Palacio de los Pardo and is the only place in the world that offers a permanent exhibition of the painter's engravings. In addition to visiting this place built in the 16th century, you can also see some of Goya's most famous works, which are part of his extensive collection.

The Zaragoza Museum, which takes a tour through its Ancient and Fine Arts exhibitions of the entire history of the city, is also highly recommended to visit. But, if you are interested in knowing more about the past of the capital of the Aragonese, you should also go to the Roman museums dedicated to the Forum, River Port, Public Baths and Theater.

But Zaragoza was not only Goya, but also the sculptor Pablo Gallardo, so the Pablo Gallardo museum, with its exhibitions, takes a tour of the artist's work. In addition, it is located in the heart of the city. If you want to see something more contemporary, then the IAACC Pablo Serrano is your place. In addition to its striking building, inside we will find temporary exhibitions and some important works by Picasso or Miró. Thus, in the Pablo Serrano Museum we will be able to see, on its different floors, a small tour of 20th century art.

Equally famous is the Alma Mater museum of Zaragoza to learn about the history of the Archdiocese of Zaragoza, be closer to the culture of Pilar and see its important artistic collection.

Other museums

If we want more curious museums in which we can do some activity, beyond the contemplative, then we will have to go to the Fire and Firefighters Museum, where you can feel like an authentic firefighter. There is also the Museum of Natural Sciences, which always surprises the visitor with its important exhibition of fossils. And, of course, talking about the Origami Museum, a cult to origami and figures created with cellulose materials. In addition, here we also find a section to learn and temporary exhibitions of some important artists in this branch.
