What is there to see in Zaragoza?

Zaragoza, the capital of Aragon, has a lot to offer its visitors. History can be felt in every stone of this city with the Ebro river flowing through it. Its Roman past, architecture and its history as the former capital of the Kingdom of Aragon are its main attractions. There are many places in the city that you should not miss during your visit. That is why we are going to create a small virtual route of the places you should definitely visit, as they will definitely surprise you.

Places in Zaragoza that you can't miss

If there is a landmark in Zaragoza, it is undoubtedly the Basilica del Pilar. This 18th century basilica and cathedral on the banks of the Ebro is a must-see in the heart of the city. Anyone travelling to Zaragoza should not miss this historic and monumental building and the famous Virgin of Pilar, the patron saint of Spain, even if they are not a believer. Other religious sites to visit in Zaragoza are the church of San Pablo, the church of San Carlos Borromeo or the church of San Gil Abad.

Another historical site is the Aljafería Palace, a fortified place built in the 11th century on the initiative of al-Muqtadir as the residence of the Hudi kings.

If we go back even further into Zaragoza's past, we should visit the Museum of the Forum of Caesar Augusta. This is a space where the remains of the city's ancient Roman forum can be seen in the basement of the small Plaza Seo in the centre of Zaragoza.

Apart from the Pilar, Zaragoza is also known as the city of Francisco de Goya. The painter, one of the most famous in the history of Spain, has a museum where you can check out some of his art works.

And of course we couldn't miss a stop at the Plaza del Pilar, the largest pedestrian square in Europe and also one of the most beautiful. The Tubo neighbourhood, with its great festive atmosphere, bars, restaurants and gastronomic attractions is also an ideal place to go out in Zaragoza.
