Nestled between the sea and the mountains, the Pearl of the Côte d'Azur is a very popular destination in the south of France. Are you planning to visit Nice? We offer you a selection of must-see sites to discover solo, with family or lovers!

What to do in Nice?

During your stay in Nice, don't miss...

Stroll through the city center

With its colorful facades, its Baroque churches and its picturesque squares, the center of Nice reminds you at every corner of its Italian past. Start your visit with a stroll through the medieval streets and linger on one of the many flower-filled squares to have a coffee or brunch on the terrace! The Promenade du Paillon, a real urban forest, borders the historic center and crosses the famous Place Masséna in Nice. In this district are the major shopping streets of the city.

Discover the museums of Nice

A city of history, art and culture, Nice is home to many dedicated museums:

  • to great artists (Matisse, Chagall, Renoir);
  • photography (Charles Nègre museum),
  • sport (National Sports Museum);
  • archeology (Nice-Cimiez site);
  • prehistory (Terra Amata);
  • modern and contemporary art (MAMAC);
  • Fine Arts (Museum of Fine Arts).

Some museums in Nice, such as the Palais Masséna or the Museum of Asian Arts, also have remarkable architecture.

Visit the Russian church in Nice

Near the Nice train station, the Saint-Nicolas cathedral of Nice is a true architectural gem. Listed in the national register of historical monuments, this Orthodox religious building is one of the most important outside of Russia!

Attend a show at the opera

The Nice opera offers year-round symphony performances and ballet, lyrical singing and chamber music performances in a beautiful Italian-style hall. Adapted to a wide audience, they feature internationally renowned artists.

Stroll along the Promenade des Anglais

An emblematic place of the French Riviera, the Promenade des Anglais in Nice is famous all over the world! This large landscaped avenue runs along the beach for 7 km. It is the ideal place to cycle, jog, eat an ice cream facing the sea or admire the sunrise over the Baie des Anges…

Admire the view from the castle hill

The castle hill is a superb place to walk, a few minutes walk from the historic center. At the top, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the city, the beaches of Nice and Port Lympia from the various terraces of the site.

Taste local specialties

Nissa Bella is famous for its art of living and its refined cuisine. From local recipes (pissaladière, petits farcis or Nice socca) to international dishes, you will be delighted in Nice's restaurants, whatever your budget.

When to visit Nice?

The Côte d'Azur is an ideal destination for sunny holidays. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, Nice is a city that can be appreciated in any season:

  • In winter, temperatures remain mild. The magical atmosphere of the end of the year (decorations, Christmas markets) becomes frankly festive in February, during the Nice Carnival.
  • In spring, the climate warms up and the rains decrease. Swimming becomes possible from April or May!
  • In summer, the city is full of holidaymakers. Many cultural events and festivals are organized.
  • In autumn, the city enjoys a beautiful late season. Temperatures remain mild and the beaches are less busy. It's a pleasant time to enjoy the calm waters of the Mediterranean.

Visit Nice with the family

Nice is a small paradise for family holidays: its beautiful beaches, public or private, offer a magnificent and very safe setting for swimming. In addition, the city is full of sites and activities to explore: the Phoenix Park of Nice (animal garden), the playgrounds, water mirrors and jets of the Promenade du Paillon, very pleasant in summer, the fun and artistic workshops of the Museum of Asian Arts…

On the taste bud side, there is something for all tastes and all ages: the juicy and sweet fruits of the hinterland present on the market stalls, the homemade ice creams made on site by the masters glaciers niçois and many other delights await you in the streets of the city center!
