Arc de Triomphe

Ordered by Napoleon after the victory of Austerlitz, the construction of this building pays homage to the triumphal arches erected during Antiquity to celebrate the victories of the Roman Empire. Originally, the Parisian Arc de Triomphe was intended to be the starting point of a monumental avenue crossing the Louvre and Paris Bastille.

However, it was finally erected in the center of Place Charles-de-Gaulle, a stone's throw from our hotel in Batignolles. Abandoned during the Restoration, the construction was completed under the reign of Louis-Philippe. After the First World War, the remains of the unknown soldier were buried there. An eternal flame rekindled every day celebrates the memory of soldiers who died in combat. 

Eiffel Tower

This symbolic monument of France is the work of the architect Gustave Eiffel. Built for the International Exhibition of 1889, it commemorates the two hundredth anniversary of the French Revolution.

Located on the Champ de Mars, near the Invalides, the Eiffel Tower is entirely made up of metal elements and measures 300 m high. With 7 million visitors per year, it is the most visited paid monument in the world.

Place de la Concorde

A place of executions during the French Revolution, the Place de la Concorde is lined with splendid buildings. The Luxor Obelisk and two monumental fountains decorate it.

Conciergerie

Located on the Île de la Cité, the Conciergerie was originally part of the former royal palace. This superb building also served as a prison and the seat of the revolutionary tribunal during the Terror, in the 18th century: you can visit the cell of Marie Antoinette.

Pont des Arts

Listed in the register of Historic Monuments, the Pont des Arts is the first metal footbridge in Paris. It is known worldwide as the lovers' bridge.
