Discovering the pretty Jardins d'Albertas

Do you like to stroll through parks or gardens, to be close to plants, because it soothes you? Do you appreciate monuments and are you passing through the Bouches-du-Rhône? The Albertas Gardens are therefore a beautiful destination to absolutely discover during your stay.

What is the point of visiting the Albertas Gardens?

An exceptional and preserved place

The Albertas Gardens were created in 1640, and the Italian influences on this site are strongly recognized. They are classified as Historic Monuments and have received the Remarkable Gardens label.

It is during the walk around the place that you will realize what a Renaissance garden is with its typical decorations. The different plants pruned and presented here are Provençal. Unlike many other places, these gardens have kept the same composition as when they were created. This makes the experience even more interesting.

This type of place allows you to relax near fountains, statues and various plants. Whether you come alone, as a couple or as a family, the gardens will charm you, that's for sure.

Entry is chargeable, but if you go there during Heritage Days, you can go there for free. Paying helps contribute to the maintenance of the garden, water features and system, and the restoration of the site.

Many events to find on site

Do not hesitate to consult the online agenda to follow the news, because there may be events.

For botany enthusiasts, find the Plant Days every year. You will meet many passionate specialists there and can exchange around your common interests. Animations and conferences are also planned to make the event even more interesting. Exhibitors are carefully selected by the owners of the Albertas Gardens. You can therefore go there with your eyes closed!

Many plants are presented during this event. From vegetable plants to the rarest, you will leave with even more knowledge. The program is put online to facilitate everything. 2024 marks the 31st edition of Plant Days.

What to combine your visit to the Albertas Gardens with?

Discover the surrounding villages

Provence has charmed many travelers and artists with its particular landscape and its indescribable atmosphere. If you too want to discover this, go to the surrounding villages. With the various buildings present in the old places, we are sure that you will appreciate your walk. Your camera will be saturated with all these wonders!

Here is a short list of the villages where you absolutely must go to enhance your discovery of the department:

  • Lambesc;
  • Eguilles;
  • Roquevaire;
  • L’Estaque.

Visit the old town of Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence, city of art and water is a must-see if you have not yet seen it, especially its old town. About 20 minutes away, you can explore it on foot by discovering the various monuments of the town. The Cours Mirabeau remains just as appreciable during your walk, so don't forget it, because it is the main axis of Aix!

You can end your day of exploration by stopping at the thermal baths to relax!

Go to the Panier district and the Old Port of Marseille

In about thirty minutes, it is possible to reach the Panier district in Marseille from the Albertas Gardens. It is the oldest district of the city, but also one of the most beautiful. Don't forget to stroll around the Old Port, right next to the Panier, before returning to your accommodation.

However, we advise you not to visit the Albertas Gardens and the Calanques National Park on the same day. Indeed, it is preferable to devote a full day to this exceptional place in order to make the most of the many activities offered on site. Same advice for the Alpilles: plan a full day to stroll through these natural areas which fully deserve it!
