How do I get from the airport to the city center?

The airport site is located around 12 kilometers southwest of Frankfurt city center and forms its own district with around 200 inhabitants living on approximately 2400 hectares. This location allows travelers a flexible arrival at Frankfurt Airport and a convenient departure by various means of transport.

The city center can be reached quickly by car via the A3, A5 or B43 freeways, by bicycle or by city and regional buses. Tourists and business travelers can reach the main train station in just 12 minutes by ICE. From there, there are regular train connections to many of the city's sights.

How can I get to the airport?

To get directly to the right terminal, drivers should enter the correct address in their navigation system to avoid hectic sprints at the airport. Enter Hugo Eckener Ring for Terminal 1 and Kapitän-Lehmann-Straße for Terminal 2. Those picking up and dropping off passengers will find parking garages near the terminals where they can park for 30 minutes for two euros, for example. There are also filling stations and charging stations directly at the airport.

The airport can be reached by train via two stations: Airport Regional Station and Airport Long Distance Station. The regional station is located in the basement of Terminal 1 on level 0 and can be reached via the arrivals level.

Deutsche Bahn DB connects the airport with the whole of Germany and other European countries via the long-distance station. Anyone arriving here only needs to follow the signs to reach Terminal 1 on foot. Terminal 2 can be reached by shuttle bus from the bus station in front of Terminal 1 or by Sky Line in less than 30 minutes.

Which destinations does Frankfurt Airport cover?

After London-Heathrow, Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol, Frankfurt is the fourth largest airport in Europe with the IATA code FRA. It is the most important and largest of the 38 German airports operated by Fraport AG.

As the home base for Lufthansa lh and a large number of other international airlines, Frankfurt Airport offers an impressive selection of worldwide flight connections. All well-known airlines such as Condor, Air France and Turkish Airlines take their passengers on non-stop flights to numerous destinations in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and other regions. Popular destinations from Frankfurt include New York, London, Dubai, Bangkok and many more.

Fraport AG has long been involved in the construction of a new low-cost terminal that could attract airlines such as Ryanair to return to Frankfurt Airport. The low-cost airline had partially withdrawn from Germany in recent years. Most low-cost airlines tend to land at Frankfurt-Hahn in Rhineland-Palatinate.

What can you do at Frankfurt Airport?

Long waiting times? Don't worry, Frankfurt Airport is characterized by its modern infrastructure and excellent service. There are a variety of activities and facilities here to make your waiting time more pleasant. For example, you can store in the numerous stores. Perhaps you can find a little souvenir in the duty-free stores or fashion boutiques?

There is also a wide selection of restaurants, cafés and bars offering a variety of food and drinks. In addition, the airport offers numerous amenities after check-in, such as various lounges, showers, Wi-Fi access, play areas for children, ATMs, bureaux de change, luggage storage and medical facilities and relaxation zones.

If you want to take a nap before your next flight, you can do so in the NapCabs in Terminal 1. In the Room of Silence, a golden wave ceiling and a special lighting concept provide moments of reflection. You can also recharge your batteries in the yoga rooms and, when the weather is nice, the roof terrace in the transit area invites you to sunbathe. Younger passengers can have fun in the Gaming World, while others prefer to enjoy a movie in the Movie World. There is something for every taste!

By the way: Perhaps you have already noticed the huge building right next to Terminal 1, which is partly located in Gateway Gardens? It is the largest German office building “The Squaire”, twice the size of the Louvre! There are two Hilton hotels, fitness studios, a Rewe City market open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and much more.

Is Frankfurt an engaged airport?

Frankfurt Airport has a long and eventful history that goes back to the early days of aviation. The first airline (DELAG) was founded back in 1912, when zeppelins were still flying. The foundation stone for Frankfurt Airport as we know it today was laid in 1936. Over the years, the airport has been continuously expanded and modernized to meet the growing demands of air traffic.

Today, the airport not only has one runway, but four runways! As an important economic factor for the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main region, the airport makes an important contribution to economic development and the labor market. It directly and indirectly creates thousands of jobs in the aviation, tourism, logistics and retail sectors.

Frankfurt Airport is committed to minimizing its environmental impact and promoting sustainable operating practices. This includes measures to reduce emissions, avoid and dispose of waste, use renewable energies and promote public transportation and electromobility.

Today, Frankfurt Airport is a gateway to the world for millions of travelers every year. B&B HOTELS wishes you a pleasant stay and a safe flight.
