Cultural Centre Munich - A city with many facets

The Bavarian State Opera is one of the most important institutions in Munich and Bavaria and one of the best opera houses in the world. A visit to Munich would not be complete without a stop at Marienplatz to admire the breathtaking New Town Hall (and the accompanying carillon) and the beautiful streets around it. It is the central square of Munich and one of the most photographically interesting places in the city.

Munich is a hub of contemporary culture, and in the Haus der Kultur, you'll find a unique attempt to dissolve the boundaries of art. The city has many such gems and the Monopol cinema (in Schleißheimer Straße), which presents itself as a bar and cinema, also offers unusual cultural activities. One of our centrally located B&B HOTELS in Munich city centre is just a few minutes away from Marienplatz. From the Hotel Munich City West it is only a 3-minute walk to the nearest subway station and you can reach the city centre from our accommodation (in a central location) in about 10 minutes by car. City breaks in Munich – typically Bavarian

The popular European travel destination can be comfortably explored using the S-Bahn. Once you've arrived near the city centre, it's recommended to continue on foot. The city captivates visitors with interesting buildings and internationally famous museums at every turn.

The easiest way to get to Munich's pedestrian zone is from Karlsplatz, also known as Stachus. There, the first thing you'll notice is the large medieval city gate, the Karlstor. Here you can already experience the spirit and life of Munich and there are plenty of opportunities to stroll along through the pedestrian zone. Two of the most popular shopping streets form a significant part of the city centre and complete the city break: Kaufingerstraße and Neuhauser Straße. Here, Munich's luxury and wealth are evident on every corner in the form of elegant boutique shops, world-famous brands, fantastic restaurants, and many other offerings.

The city is famous for its annual Oktoberfest (you can find information and tips about the time and schedule of the event online on the Oktoberfest Munich website). That traditional Bavarian spirit is not only present at the Oktoberfest, but rather the beer brewing tradition, the countless beer gardens, the Weißwurst etc. are all typical of Munich. The beer culture, deeply rooted in the city's DNA, is best enjoyed sitting in Munich's beer gardens on a sunny day. It's a city of warm people, beautiful architecture, culture, museums, and good food.

Bavarian dishes and restaurants in Munich

In the Graggenauviertel, the north-eastern district of Munich's old town, you'll find many of the most popular bars, restaurants, and the world-famous Hofbräuhaus. Here you can experience Munich culture and Bavarian delicacies in a cosy atmosphere. While sociability takes centre stage in the lower part of the Hofbräuhaus, the second floor is a bit more relaxed and quiet.

But that's not all: Munich is a city of modern gourmet cuisine. Dallmayr, famous for its coffee, is located near Marienplatz and offers upscale gourmet cuisine and many other specialities. You can find some information and tips about reservation options online.
