Valencia Marathon

The Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Marathon is one of the most popular marathons in Europe and especially in Spain. It is a 42.195-kilometer foot race that has been organized every year since 1981. Its name comes from the collaboration with the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, which began in 2012. Generally, the Valencia marathon takes place every year in early December.

To participate in an edition of the marathon, you need an ID or passport and email. The price is about €120 for registration and to have the bib numbers.

The history of the Valencia Marathon

You can participate in the Valencia marathon since 1981. Exactly, it was inaugurated on March 29, during the spring. The same day, the famous London marathon was born in England. Since 1981, the circuits have changed to bring runners closer to the public and improve the route.

In 2011, the Valencia marathon changed. Changes appeared in the circuit, date changes, and changes regarding the arrival point. They decided to plan the arrival of the marathoners on a footbridge over the waters of the City of Arts and Sciences.

Valencia city of running and marathon with records

In 2013, Félix Kipkemoi Keny finished the marathon in just 2 hours 7 minutes and 16 seconds, making Valencia the holder of the national record. 6 years later, in 2019, Kinde Atanaw Alayew once again broke the popular race record with a time of 2 hours 3 minutes and 51 seconds. These data make Valencia the fourth fastest city in the world and the first in Spain, ahead of:

●       Barcelona

●       Madrid

●       Alicante

●       Zaragoza

●       Tenerife

●       Sevilla

●       Málaga

●       Murcia

●       Girona…

Who knows how long it will take Valencia to become the fastest running site in the world in the Marathon distance? In 2021, the world records are held by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge with his mark of 2 hours 1 minute and 39 seconds in the Berlin marathon.

The Valencia Trinidad half marathon
