Our best tips for visiting PortAventura in Spain

PortAventura is one of the most attractive places of interest on the Costa Dorada and in Europe. It is a wonderful amusement park located near Tarragona, Barcelona and Salou. It has six worlds represented by areas of the planet and has a water park. It is a paradise for both children and adults. This park is ideal for families or to go with your friends and have a great time. Are you thinking of visiting PortAventura? Here we give you our best tips to make the most of the area.

Rule #1: Arrive early

We recommend you arrive early on the day of your visit to the Portaventura park. If you get up early, you can enjoy attractions with space and without having to endure the endless queues. Also, you should buy your ticket in advance, so you will save a lot of waiting time. And even more so if you decide to stay overnight! Portaventura tickets can be bought online.

The attractions that include early morning openings are: Tutuki Splash, Street Mission, Dragon Khan, Furius Baco and Grand Canyon Rapids.

In fact, the best we can recommend is to start your day with the most famous attractions. Among them, the Dragon Khan, Hurakan Condor, Street Mission and Shambala.

Rule #2: avoid school holiday weeks

During school holiday weeks and in summer, the park is usually crowded. Which means you'll have to queue for practically all the theme parks and attractions. If you are not very patient, you will know that it can be very irritating to wait, and wait, and wait again... Therefore, we recommend you avoid these times and go better on weekdays instead of weekends.

Rule #3: organize your stay

The best thing is to try to organize before entering. If you have children, we advise you to start with the China area. Indeed, it has a children's area and many children's attractions, so you can entertain them from the beginning.

Rule #4: eat early or very late

Once again, it's about avoiding queuing, waiting and wasting your precious time in the park. Therefore, we recommend you eat very early, around 11:30 or 12:00, French style. The different restaurants and stalls tend to fill up between 13:00 and 15:00, so you can avoid queues or being uncomfortable.

What are the 6 worlds?

Below we explain the six different worlds of the park, also called "theme parks".

Mediterrania

The Mediterranean world is quiet, with delicious gastronomy and some stores to buy souvenirs. Here you will have exciting attractions.

Polynesia

Welcome to the jungle, pure exoticism. You will find attractions such as Tutuki Splash, Kontiki or Canoes. It is a good corner for families.

China

In China, the famous Dragon Khan and its loopings with a speed of 110km/h will be waiting for you. Also, there will be the Shambhala, the highest roller coaster in Portaventura Park.

Mexico

Do you like Mexican food? This is your place. The restaurants in Mexico are of high quality. The attractions are for the brave, but the little ones can also enjoy shows and foals.

Sesame Adventure

This world is different, as it does not represent any geographical area. In fact, it is dedicated to the characters of Sesame Street. Ideal for the little ones!

Far West

Finally, the United States Welcome to the Wild West! There is everything: water attractions, buffalo rodeo, the great wooden roller coaster...and much more!
