Tourcoing Centre: must-sees

Visit Tourcoing center

Saint Christophe Church

A stone's throw from the town hall, the church of Tourcoing is dedicated to Saint Christophe. It is located at the end of the Place de la République. It owes its current form to the architect Charles Leroy who directed the enlargement of the original building in the 19th century. This majestic red brick building, 60 meters long, has a bell tower 80 meters high. It houses a museum dedicated to bell art. From the top of the tower, you will have a panoramic view of the entire Lille metropolis.

MUba Eugène Leroy

The Tourcoing Museum, rue Paul Doumer, presents unique collections of classical, modern and contemporary art. It is open to the public all year round for free, guided or audio guided tours. Following an important donation, it exhibits more than 600 works by the Tourcoing painter Eugène Leroy. MUba also stands out for its desire to make genres and eras dialogue through a presentation of works from the permanent collection and loans from other public collections. Thus, it is not uncommon for Rembrandt to rub shoulders with Matt Mullican or Martin Barré!

Havré Hospice

The construction of the Tourcoing hospice dates back to the 13th century. It housed the orphans and destitute elderly people of the city until the end of the 20th century. As part of the events of Lille 2004 European Capital of Culture, the municipality transformed the building into a cultural venue. You can now admire exhibitions in the cloister and chapel and attend shows in the flowered gardens of the hospice. Perfect for a calm and relaxing break in the heart of the city. Free access during opening hours.

Botanical garden

This public park was created at the beginning of the 20th century in the former residence of a couple fond of botany. A large variety of trees and flowering plants grow in this little green paradise in the city center. The Tourcoing botanical garden has several spaces: the French garden; the English garden; the space dedicated to plants from North America; the squares and educational greenhouses (hot and cold) articulated around various educational projects. Stroll freely through the alleys of this pretty public garden or take a guided tour of the greenhouses (by reservation).

Clemenceau Park

With an area of 4 hectares, Clémenceau Park is one of the green lungs of Tourcoing. It has several leisure areas and playgrounds for children, including an inclusive leisure area adapted to children with disabilities. Ideal for stretching your legs and relaxing outdoors during a stay in the metropolis! In summer, you can enjoy for free the facilities of Tourcoing beach: pedal boats, zip line and floating multi-sport field. Easily accessible by bus (Parc Clémenceau stop, bus line 4), on foot or by car.

Bars, restaurants and shops of Tourcoing

Since 2018, the municipality has entrusted the revitalization of the city center to the organization La fabrique des quartiers. In order to strengthen the attractiveness of the area, ephemeral boutiques and animated shop windows have been installed in the uninhabited buildings of this perimeter. To go shopping, stroll through the streets of Lille, like rue Saint-Jacques in Vieux-Lille or go to the Grand-Place where there are many shops. Facing the Tourcoing center metro, the Saint-Christophe commercial area also offers a nice shopping area on several levels with parking.

Gastronomy side, Tourcoing is not left out. Want to taste the flamiche, cramique, Flemish carbonade or a fricadelle washed down with North beer? You can taste the culinary specialties of the region in the best restaurants of the town. Warm and lively, the bars of Tourcoing welcome you at any time of the day or evening for a convivial moment with family or friends. Consult us to know the must-see addresses!
