What to do during a weekend in Marseille

Continue your cultural and historical tour by visiting the Fort Saint-Jean - further down the Butte Saint-Laurent - located in the Town Hall district. Two steps from there, you can visit the Cathédrale de la Major, one of the Phoenician City’s unmissable locations. In the Panier district, wander around the steep streets with their colourful façades discovering some artists’ workshops. Its squares perched high above the city have a typically Provençal charm.

If your schedule allows, take a visit to the Centre de la Vieille Charité, which is home to several museums, associations and a school. It’s an area of art and local heritage, so take the family to the Préau des Accoules, which can be found in part of Marseille’s former Observatory. Many events and workshops related to art are on offer for young and old. A little further south, at the Cité Radieuse, discover a unique housing concept created by the architect Le Corbusier.
