What can you do in Paris for free?

Paris is reputed to be an expensive city. However, this is not always the case. While it is quite possible to find a cheap hotel in Paris, it is also possible to take advantage of the city's good deals by spending little, or even nothing at all. Monuments, outings, cultural visits... activities are very numerous in the French capital and if some of them can sometimes have a high price, it is also possible to have fun on a very small budget. With family, as a couple or with friends, focus on a free Paris that has nothing to envy to holidays requiring a significant investment.

In Paris, art is everywhere

In Paris, art is everywhere and accessible all the time. The greatest museums like the Louvre Museum, the Orsay Museum or the Quai Branly, but also the most historical monuments like the Arc de Triomphe or the Pantheon, open their doors for free on the first Sunday of the month. In a capital where monuments are omnipresent, the exterior architecture becomes a vast attraction.

Many artistic places in the capital are therefore accessible from the outside as well. The Grand Palais or the Eiffel Tower for example, offer their beauties to those who come to see them from below. No need to climb to be fully overwhelmed by the emotion of these wonders.

In addition, a large number of exhibitions are accessible for free and very easily, such as those of the Hôtel de Ville for example.

A walk along the Luxembourg Garden will allow you to discover contemporary photographs hanging on the exterior gates. In Paris, art is everywhere; you just have to open your eyes.

An open-air Paris

Paris is also a city that gives pride of place to nature. Depending on the district where your hotel is located, do not miss to visit the surrounding parks and green spaces. One of the most emblematic districts of the city is that of the mythical Père Lachaise Cemetery. Internationally known, it has been the filming location of many films. Its access is free, the park is immense and the visit very appreciated. At the bend of an alley, stand here and there the tombs of Édith Piaf, Jim Morrison, Proust or Chopin to name a few.

The Bois de Vincennes, the Bois de Boulogne, the Luxembourg Garden, the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont or the Tuileries Garden are all parks and gardens where access is free and the walk pleasant. Finally, Paris is a permanent celebration where its inhabitants like to go down the street to express themselves: paintings, shows or street concerts, so many moments conducive to unusual encounters on both banks of the Seine. For tourists passing through the capital, it is recommended to take a tour of the Paris Tourist Office which is located on the mythical avenue des Champs-Élysées. A program of all permanent or temporary exhibitions is available to them.

In Paris, walking is essential to discover the city and its beauties. This is good because, armed with good shoes, tourists can move around its streets where music, street art and monuments follow one another without ever being alike. To not touch the wallet while enjoying an authentic Paris, head to the 13th arrondissement, the one where street art is king. In the charming Butte-aux-Cailles district, each alley proudly reveals huge murals. From a romantic and cultural walk along the banks of the Seine, to a visit to a free museum such as the Museum of Fine Arts or the Museum of Modern Art, from a little nap in a garden of the capital to the beauty of a sunset on the Eiffel Tower, free Paris is open to all curious people eager to discover.
