If you are looking for a historical immersion in the heart of downtown Nantes, the Bouffay district is for you.

It is the oldest area of the city: cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and medieval atmosphere. You can get lost in its maze and discover charming courtyards.

Don't miss the Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul Cathedral, a Gothic construction from 1434, as well as the Château des Ducs de Bretagne.

Today it houses a museum retracing the history of Nantes. Bouffay is full of restaurants, cafes and shops.

The Loire atmosphere is yours!

Gloriette Island and Feydeau Island

We could not mention the downtown district of Nantes without presenting these historic areas: Île Gloriette and Île Feydeau, both bordered by the tram line.

You might expect to discover water there? And no! Since 1930, the arms of the Loire that were there have been filled.

The plots have however retained their island name. There you will find the Hôtel-Dieu, but also many bars and restaurants with terraces, very popular with locals.

Enjoy walks in the small streets of this authentic district.

The Graslin — Commerce district

If you prefer a more refined atmosphere, head to the Graslin district. Architectural testimony of 18th and 19th century urban planning, it extends around the Graslin theater, an emblematic 18th century building in Nantes. This district breathes cultural life and chic!

Be sure to visit the passage Pommeraye and its monumental staircase or take the time to stroll through the Cours Cambronne.

The most courageous will continue their walk to the church of Notre-Dame de Bon Port, or even the Sainte-Anne district.

Graslin is full of gourmet restaurants, sophisticated wine bars and elegant boutiques. Finally, the Museum of Natural History of Nantes is a real treasure for nature lovers and science enthusiasts. Explore its galleries and discover a multitude of collections of animal species, minerals and fossils.

The Madeleine — Champ de Mars district

Ideally located in the center, the Cité des Congrès of Nantes is a major place of Nantes cultural life.

Its large rooms host national and international events: concerts, trade shows or the latest comedy shows.

You can stroll along the quays of the Loire and the Erdre, and enjoy the view of the Île de Nantes.

The Convention Center is very well served by public transport and the TGV station, which facilitates access to other districts of the city.

And if we moved a little away from the historic center of Nantes? The large district of Saint-Donatien Malakoff is an option

interesting for those looking for a mix of modernity and nature.

Located north and east of the hypercenter, this district extends on either side around the TGV station.

You can notably visit the Jardin des Plantes, a true haven of peace in the heart of the city. Art lovers will also appreciate the proximity of the Museum of Fine Arts of Nantes, home to varied collections ranging from 13th century art to contemporary works.

The Île de Nantes

Located south of the historic downtown district, discover the Île de Nantes and its mysterious machines. Created in 2007, these extraordinary Nantes creatures were born from the imagination of François Delarozière and Pierre Orefice.

Inspired by the worlds of Jules Verne and Leonardo da Vinci, they combine art and technology to offer a unique experience. Among the must-sees, there is the Giant Elephant that takes visitors for a ride, as well as the carousel of marine worlds, lair of other fabulous creatures.

This magical place will delight young and old alike, transporting everyone into a fantastic universe where imagination is king.
