Our selection of classic museums in Bordeaux

In this first part, we take you to discover the most classic and unmissable museums in the city. Dedicated to art, history, and culture, these museums will take you on a journey through time, from prehistory to the present day. Discover without further delay, our top 3:

  • The Museum of Aquitaine: learn all the secrets of Bordeaux and its region, thanks to collections dedicated to archeology, history and ethnography. Prehistory, protohistory, Gallo-Roman era, reign of the kings of England, slavery, all periods are reviewed. Take the opportunity to take a look at the temporary exhibitions. The themes are often original, like the one dedicated to surfing, an emblematic sport of the southwest.
  • The CARC Museum – Center of Contemporary Plastic Art: located in the Lainé warehouse, this museum hosts superb collections of contemporary art. Created in 1973 with the aim of making modern art known, the CAPC houses more than 1,600 works, by more than 200 artists, of all origins. Also discover temporary exhibitions, animations around art, and even artistic workshops, organized for the little ones.
  • The Museum of Fine Arts: located behind the Town Hall, in the north and south wings of the Palais Rohan, the Museum of Fine Arts no longer needs to be presented. Stroll through the different alleys and admire collections dating from the 15th to the 20th century. Known painters, forgotten sculptures, many works have been brought up to date and are available to visitors. Little extra: at the end of your visit, take a breath of fresh air in the gardens of the Town Hall.

Before booking your tickets, remember to check the current temporary exhibitions. Unique, they will allow you to make your choice more easily.
