The Gradignan animal park: a protected area

Canivenc Park: a love story between man and nature

The land, which was to serve as a park, was bought in 1978, by the mayor of Gradignan at the time: René Canivenc. Anxious to see some real estate investors wanting to get their hands on this green space, he made the decision to acquire the land to make it an animal park. His goal: to make the animal species of the region discovered to the inhabitants of the city. Some time later and with a lot of work, the Gradignan animal park was born. The success is then immediate and the name of René Canivenc is chosen in 2012, to pay homage to its creator.

Crossed by the Eau Bourde river, the park is a real corner of paradise for lovers of nature and animals. Here, you will meet in the open air more than 50 different species of mammals and birds. During your walk, among the many trails, you will find information on the surrounding fauna and flora. Temporary exhibitions are offered by the Maison de la nature and meetings are organized with the naturalists of the park.
