The broad program of the Theaterhaus

The theater was founded in 1984 as a non-profit association by Werner and Gudrun Schretzmeier and Peter Grohmann and has been surprising audiences with its unique variety of programs ever since. With over 300,000 visitors a year, the Theaterhaus is the most visited theater of its kind in Germany. A unique concept dominates here: different artistic genres, experimental, popular and new projects are united under one roof.

The Theaterhaus has its own acting ensemble and, since 2007, its own dance ensemble: Gauthier Dance. This makes it the only private theater in Europe with two permanent ensembles. Guest performances with artists from the fields of comedy, jazz, rock and cabaret are also part of the regular program.

The musical diversity of the Theaterhaus ranges from jazz and world music to rock and electronic music. It serves as a stage for well-known artists as well as up-and-coming musicians, making it a vibrant center for live music in Stuttgart.

New music events take place in a specially constructed extension. The four halls also host political discussions, readings, lectures, exhibitions and events for children and young people.

But that's not all. The artistic program is complemented by a sports program, for which a separate sports hall is available. Around 150 of the 900 events are free of charge, which makes the theater particularly attractive.

Tickets

Tickets are available by phone or on site from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and at weekends from 1 pm to 2 pm. Of course, you can also book and pay online.

The special thing about theater tickets is that they can be used on public transport. For all events at the Theater, the ticket is valid on the day of the event three hours before the event begins and three hours after the event ends as a VVS ticket for the outward and return journey until closing time.

Gastronomy in the theater

If you want to eat something before the evening at the theater or after the concert or want to toast to a successful evening, then you don't have to go looking for a restaurant in the city. The Theaterhaus has two bars in the upper and lower foyer serving drinks and snacks.

However, you can sit more comfortably in the restaurant, which is just a few steps away from the main entrance. Here you can indulge in regional and international specialties. In the summer months, you can share your event experiences with your companions in the adjoining beer garden. The combination of art, culture and culinary delights makes Theaterhaus Stuttgart a unique place for entertainment and social interaction.

Gauthier Dance / Dance Company

Sixteen young dancers work under the direction of Eric Gauthier, choreographer, dancer and musician, himself a former charismatic audience favorite of the Stuttgart Ballet.

The repertoire includes works by Gauthier himself as well as by renowned contemporary choreographers such as Mauro Bigonzetti, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Hans van Manen, with whom the company has traveled to Toronto, New York and St. Petersburg, among other places. Gauthier Dance is now one of the most successful German dance companies.

Participation and cultural mediation

Theaterhaus Stuttgart is strongly committed to cultural education and develops programs and initiatives to make art and culture accessible to a wide audience. Here, young people can transcend the boundaries of convention and participate in dance and theater projects in a school and extracurricular context.

The dance and theater educational work offered by the association promotes and strengthens self-confidence, language and communication skills as well as social skills. Young people get to know dance and theater as part of culture and experience art aesthetically.

There are regular special projects as part of festivals such as the COLOURS International Dance Festival and cooperation projects with other institutions such as the art museum or Mercedes-Benz Bank.

As a vital part of the city's cultural scene, the Theaterhaus embodies an artistic vision that defies conventional boundaries and honors the diversity of the performing arts. B&B HOTELS hope you enjoy your visit.
