Stuttgart Christmas market

The contemplative Christmas market in Stuttgart

Is it Christmas time and you're visiting Stuttgart? After a restful night in our cozy B&B Hotel Stuttgart Centre, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Baden-Württemberg awaits you. The Christmas market has been taking place in the state capital for over 300 years, making it one of the oldest in Europe, and B&B Hotels will guide you through the lovingly decorated stalls and tell you more about the regional products and various events. Whether with family, friends or alone, nobody feels lonely at the Stuttgart Christmas market and the smell of roasted almonds and mulled wine puts everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Why is the Stuttgart Christmas market particularly beautiful?

If you want to experience the Advent spirit, come to the Stuttgart Christmas market. It is the largest and most beautiful Christmas market in the region. Why is that? It's probably down to the many people who put a lot of effort, good humor and attention to detail into making this market what it is today: a feel-good Christmas market for young and old.

The smiling vendors at the many lovingly decorated stalls know that the most beautiful stall will be awarded a prize. A great incentive to give free rein to the joy of decorating, and our neighbors don't miss out on this magnificent beauty either. Every year, over three million visitors from the border triangle of France, Switzerland and Austria visit the international Christmas market and find the perfect gifts at the more than 300 stands. Whether nativity figures, Christmas decorations, hand-knitted items or pre-Christmas delicacies - there is something for every taste.

What activities and events are there at the Stuttgart Christmas market?

The Ferris wheel in the cour d'honneur of the New Palace can be seen from afar. Brightly illuminated, it soars up to 58 meters above the ground. The perfect opportunity for a panoramic view of the city and the beautiful Christmas decorations. The Ferris wheel is open Sundays to Thursdays from 11 am to 9 pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 10 pm. Tip: Children under the age of three ride for free. The traditional Advent carol singing is also part of the Stuttgart Christmas market. Various choirs from Stuttgart and the surrounding area create an Advent atmosphere and invite you to sing along. Whether gospel or state police orchestra, philharmonic choir or local music association - you are sure to have a Christmas carol in your ears.

Christmas market with children possible?

From children's punch to donkey petting - the Swabian welcoming culture is particularly noticeable at the glittering Christmas market. In addition to the friendly traders who display their wares and traditional market wares, parents with children also get their money's worth. There are lots of hands-on activities for the little ones and real highlights:

The children's fairytale land
In the children's fairytale land on Stuttgart's Schlossplatz, the train driver gives the signal and off you go! Steaming and hissing, the miniature train takes the little ones on a journey through the miniature landscape. With up to 42 children, the train chugs through a 390 square meter landscape. The little ones can also take a spin on the mini Ferris wheel or the nostalgic children's carousel.

DIY sweets and handicrafts

Of course, there are also sweets for the little ones. In addition to children's punch, the market also offers gingerbread hearts and chocolate skewers that you can make yourself with fruit, icing, flowers and beads. Crafts are made in the town hall. Children are supervised around the clock, so parents can relax and browse for presents or enjoy a mulled wine.

The living nativity

The traditional Christmas market includes a nativity scene. In Stuttgart, it is inhabited by real animals: donkeys, lambs and sheep turn the Christmas story into a real experience for children.

Christmas in Finnish

Every year, the Finnish Christmas market takes place on the neighboring Karlsplatz, where free bread is baked in the Lapp tent by the campfire. Here, children can enjoy the freshly baked, warm bread and parents can warm up by the fire. Hot tip for the adults: You should try the mulled berry wine Glögi here: an excellent Finnish mulled wine made from wild and meadow berries with a fruity-sweet taste.

A little trip to the Baroque?

The Mex12 Metropolexpress in the direction of Heilbronn will take you to Ludwigsburg in just 10 minutes, where your Christmas wishes will also come true. A further 160 exhibitors and a varied stage program for young and old await you at the baroque Christmas market in the old town. In addition, the
event venues and churches in Ludwigsburg also offer Christmas concerts to get you in the mood for the Advent season.

The B&B Hotels look forward to your visit and wish you a wonderful Advent season! Merry Christmas!
