Location of the impressive shopping center

The Kalk district was one of the most important locations in Cologne at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the large chemical factory. The 1914 water tower adjacent to the arcades is still a reminder of this time. Over the decades, Kalk changed from an industrial to a residential and administrative district and received its first large shopping center with the Cologne Arcaden.
