The Balthasar Castle, located in the heart of the Europapark Rust, was built in the 15th century. Today it offers an excellent opportunity for a restaurant visit in a royal atmosphere. The former manor house of the noble family Böcklin von Böcklinsau from 1598 is still inhabited. It is worthwhile to admire the beautiful half-timbered building from the outside during a walk. Afterwards you will pass the Catholic Parish Church of Peter in Chains, which is consecrated to the fishing patron Saint Peter. If you have a little more time, you can take a tour of the parish church and marvel at the extraordinary ceiling paintings by Reinhard Dassler. But don't be frightened: You may discover a skyscraper among the disciples and a motorcycle helmet next to Mother Theresa, exceptionally contemporary. Other sights in Rust are the Museum of Orchards, the Old Town Hall, the Upper Rhine Tobacco Museum, the Heubergturm viewing platform and the Elzwiesen landscape conservation area.
