History and Town Planning

The castellany of the Abbot of Saint-Denis in the 9th century, Villepinte developed greatly in the Middle Ages, eventually becoming its own parish in the 13th century. The city’s castle, built by a powerful member of the Parisian bourgeoisie, later housed a major sanatorium. In the 20th century, the city saw small residential neighbourhoods spring up, followed by urban zones on former farmlands, dividing the city into different areas without a single city centre.

Where to enjoy a walk

The departmental park of Sausset, between Aulnay-sous-Bois and Villepinte, is a true green lung for northeastern Paris. During your walks or morning jogs, you can discover a multitude of scenic landscapes. If you feel like a boat trip, you can drift down the Ourcq Canal, which winds its away across the Seine-Saint-Denis area.
