History and town planning

The origin of this city dates back to the 11th century. Fortified at the beginning of the 14th century, Honfleur played an important defensive role during the Hundred Years’ War In the 17th and 18th centuries, the city’s commercial activity expanded towards Canada, the West Indies and African coasts.
