History of the Exhibition Park

Histoire du Parc des Expositions - Paris Expo | B&B HOTELS

The grand history of the Paris Exhibition Park begins in 1923. At that time, it was to host the Foire de Paris, an event previously held at the Champ de Mars.

The construction of the first hangars began at boulevard Lefèbvre and avenue Ernest Renan, on the border of the communes of Issy-les-Moulineaux and Vanves. Over time, the space expanded and modernized. Major events were organized there, such as the 1937 Universal Exhibition. The site experienced military occupation during the Second World War before resuming its main activity in the 1950s. It then hosted new trade shows and major political meetings.

Major renovation and reconstruction work began in the early 2000s. Several amphitheaters and meeting rooms were added to the original park, as well as a high-rise office building. In 2017, the city hall inaugurated the Paris Convention Centre. With a capacity of over 30,000 people, it is the largest congress center in Europe.

The construction site resumed in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. Viparis, the site's manager, is planning new outdoor developments (community garden, large pedestrian promenade). Improving connectivity with the city is also one of the objectives of this new work.

Paris Expo Porte de Versailles is an exceptional place enjoying strong attractiveness. The place totals 212,000 m² of exhibition space in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. It consists of 7 pavilions and a huge congress hall.

The main entrance is via a monumental hall of 51,000 m². Each pavilion has its own sanitary blocks and several restaurants.

The largest events take place in pavilions 1 and 7, the most spacious of the structure.

Bright and high-tech, hall 7 has the largest plenary hall in Europe, with a green roof and a clear view of Paris. More intimate, pavilions 2 and 3 host human-sized trade shows and conventions.

Corporate experiences are organized within pavilion 5. Pavilions 4 and 6 host all types of trade shows.

Several devices facilitate travel within the Exhibition Park:

  • covered walkways connect halls 1 and 3 as well as halls 4 and 6;
  • pavilion 7 is accessible from the entrance via a moving walkway that also crosses pavilion 3.

Designed as a winter garden, the event space of the Exhibition Park organizes cocktails, evenings and private events day and night.
