  • Old Lyon or the Saint Jean district: it is certainly the best known district of the city. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Old Lyon remains anchored in the past with a part dating from the medieval period and the other from the Renaissance.
    It is also here that the famous "traboules" are hidden, these small secret passages allowing to pass from one building to another via small courtyards or stairs. After a visit to the Gadagne Museum or the Miniature and Cinema Museum, make a stop in a Lyon "bouchon" to taste the local specialties.
  • Fourvière: in the heights of Old Lyon is the Fourvière hill. For the more daring you can go there on foot, otherwise you can take the funicular to go to the top of the hill. The superb Notre Dame de Fourvière Basilica overlooks the city and offers a panoramic view of all of Lyon. Take the opportunity to take a tour of the Jardin des Curiosités to enjoy again an exceptional view of the city.

  • Croix Rousse: also called the old Canuts district. It is inside these buildings specifically built to house the weaving machines that silk was made. The ceilings and windows had to be very high to accommodate these huge machines. Today there are only a few copies left, visible at the Maison des Canuts. The area is also known for being all slopes and for its "Gros caillou", a very large rock located in the middle of a square offering a very beautiful view of the whole city.
  • The Peninsula: it groups together monuments and places of all kinds. From the rue de la République and its chic boutiques, to the place Bellecour and its private mansions, passing by the town hall, the places to see are numerous. Do not forget to make a detour by the Lyon Opera, the place des Terreaux, its Museum of Fine Arts and its Bartholdi fountain, or to go for a drink on the landscaped banks of the Rhône.

  • Confluence and Perrache: out of the ground in 2014, the Confluences museum quickly acquired a very large notoriety.     If you feel like going shopping, go to the Lyon Part Dieu shopping center. It is one of the largest complexes in Europe! Hundreds of shops, a new cinema complex, and even a suspended garden are located in this gigantic shopping center.
