On a site where art and culture meet today, a public, indoor swimming pool was built by industrialist Ernst Sachs, to give to the city in 1933. It was only in 2004 that bathing was finally stopped. The permanent exhibition at the art gallery centres around the theme of expressive realism, as well as the Joseph Hierling Collection. Temporary exhibitions complement the offer. Entry is free every first Sunday of the month.

Commissioned by Prince Bishop Karl von Schönborn, Balthasar Neumann built Werneck Castle between 1732 and 1745. It initially served as a summer residence for the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg and later it was also used as a summer palace by the Grand Duke Ferdinand of Tuscany. In 1853 it was then used as the district hospital. Nevertheless, parts of the castle and the castle gardens are still open to visit.

The Ebracher Hof estate was built in the 16th century and is, today, still largely preserved. The facility was only extensively renovated in 2007. Until 1802, it belonged to the Cistercian monastery of Ebrach. In the main building you can find a restaurant, as well as a hotel. The former tithe barn now houses the city library.

The Town Hall on the south side of the market square is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Schweinfurt. It was built between 1570 and 1572 by Nikolaus Hofmann and is, today, one of the most significant Renaissance buildings in South Germany. It survived all the wars of past centuries, unscathed. A fire in 1959 destroyed much of the upper floor. However, this also uncovered the exposed half-timbering inside. In addition, various works of art, wood carvings, tapestries and paintings can be admired in the building today.

Close to the Town Hall you’ll find another landmark, the Granary Tower. The building with its striking tower was built in 1611 by Balthasar Rüffer III. The original “Rüfferturm” tower was originally only used as a stairwell. At the beginning of the 19th century it was used as a granary. Today the climb is particularly worth it, thanks to the tower’s fantastic view over the city.

The Georg Schäfer Museum is 10 minutes’ walk from B&B Hotel Schweinfurt. The collection belonging to industrialist, Georg Schäfer, became part of a foundation thanks to his heirs, and is now one of the most important private collections of 19th- century art from German-speaking countries. Here you can see individual works by well-known, as well as lesser-known, artists. One of the oldest pieces of art work, “Peasant Idyll” by Januarius Zick, dates back to around 1760. In contrast, Max Liebermann's painting of his wife, Martha Liebermann, from around 1930, is one of the most recent works.
