B&B HOTEL Katowice Centrum is located in the center of the city, so it will be easy to organize a stay with friends or family, enjoying the favorable location and attractive price of accommodation. Not far from the hotel is the Market Square, along with the popular Mariacka Street, where there are many bars and restaurants, and the famous Spodek, a building with an unusual shape that attracts tourists, reminiscent of a spaceship that has just landed in the center of the city. Many important events are held there, such as sports competitions, exhibitions and concerts. The Rondo Sztuki traffic circle, the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the International Congress Center and the Silesian Museum are located in its immediate vicinity.

Katowice is a city that is the center of the Silesian agglomeration, and many festivals are organized here, such as the Off Festival and Tauron Nowa Muzyka. Shopping enthusiasts will appreciate the multitude of shopping centers: close to the market you can go shopping at Galeria Katowicka, or, a little further from the heart of the city, at Silesia City Center, the largest of its kind in Silesia. Right next door is the Silesian Park, something for families with children, as there is also the Silesian Zoological Garden, among many attractions.

There you can take a ride on the Elka train and enjoy the beautiful views from above.

How to plan a weekend in Silesia?

When planning the next steps of the trip, we naturally take into account the opinions of people who have already visited. After all, there are many picturesque places near Katowice, and this city, despite its history associated with coal and industry, is surprisingly green and surrounded by many forests, such as the huge Murckowski Forest, ideal for bicycle trips.

Another park, definitely closer to downtown accommodation, is the Three Ponds Valley. However, you will find much more than three ponds on its grounds! This is an ideal place for equestrian enthusiasts, as it is here that horseback riding lessons are conducted by the Katowice Riding Club. Enjoying the beauty of nature, we can also simply go for a leisurely walk, picnic, or ride a bike or rollerblade.

Here we can find many great routes for such rides. Muchowiec, as the city's residents also call this park, is one of the must-see places on your trip, surrounded by nature you will be able to relax before further sightseeing. This area is also home to the historic Porcelain Factory, which is one of the elements from the Technological Monuments Route. This place, after extensive renovation, has now been converted into a museum, and numerous concerts and the Night Market are also held here.

The best restaurants and bars in Silesia

In this city, lovers of good food can count on a real feast. On Mariacka Street, full of bars where there is always something going on, fans of Italian cuisine should visit Len Arte, well known to Katowice residents, which is worth a visit for pizza and pasta. In Katowice's market square, with its ideal location in the heart of the city, you'll find the unpretentious and lush Aioli, where you can sit with a drink and tapas before going out to dinner or a club.

For more sophisticated gourmets, a good choice would be Silesian Prohibition, where you can try a refined version of the most classic dish of Silesian cuisine - roulade with noodles and red cabbage, a dish worthy of all Michelin stars. After a visit to the Silesian Museum, it would be a shame to miss the restaurant located in the same building, namely Moodro, a bistro with a modern design and an extensive menu. Not far from Katowice, in Tychy, there is a complex of historic buildings of the Civic Brewery, and in it is the elegant Tichauer restaurant. The brewery was built to compete with Tyskie Brewery, as the famous Tyskie beer, drunk all over the country, is brewed in this city.

Katowice and surroundings

This relatively young city with a mining history offers many attractions and leisure activities, and in addition, thanks to its location in the heart of the Silesian agglomeration, you can also take advantage of interesting events in neighboring Gliwice, Myslowice, Piekary, Zabrze or Bytom. Families with children can go to the Water Park in Tychy, where kids will go wild on slides and parents will relax by the pool. In winter, with favorable conditions on Górka Środulska in Sosnowiec, there is a ski lift and equipment rental, so you can polish your skiing skills.

The Center for Ecological Education Exotarium in Sosnowiec is worth a look, as is the Radiostation in Gliwice. In Zabrze, on the other hand, you can visit a quite original place, although so typical of the region: the Guido Mine and the Queen Louise Adit. A boat ride in the underground passages is certainly an unforgettable experience for everyone!
