Our B&B Hotel in Saarland

Welcome to the land of gourmets, welcome to Saarland. Bakeries, fruit distilleries, wines and jams, fresh trout and exquisite oils - the B&B Hotels invite you on a culinary journey through a green federal state with a lot of French flair.

In our B&B Hotel in Saarbrücken, stay overnight in modern rooms, all of which have free WLAN, Sky TV and a bathroom with a shower. You have the choice between single beds and large French beds and can book breakfast. The barrier-free hotel is conveniently located at the main station, so you can easily explore the city on foot.

Saarland has been one of the German federal states since 1957 and is located in the border triangle with Luxembourg and France. The only German neighbor is Rhineland-Palatinate. Day trips to Trier, Luxembourg City or Metz are recommended.

The state capital Saarbrücken

Saarbrücken, first German, then French and then German again, is the only major city in Saarland. The French influences are clearly noticeable in Saarbrücken, as everywhere in Saarland. Here you always walk on the Trottwa (French: trottoir, sidewalk) and when it rains, take your Paraplü (French: parapluie, umbrella) in your hand.

So if you can stroll comfortably on the Trottwa through the beautiful old town, you can admire the Place-Royal architecture of the Ludwigsplatz and the Ludwigskirche. Trendy boutiques, bars and excellent restaurants can be found at the Saint Johanner Markt. But the neo-Gothic town hall and the baroque castle on the other side of the Saar are also worth a visit.

Would you like to enrich your trip with a little adventure? Right next to the castle, in the Saar Historical Museum, you can descend into the underground Saarbrücken castle complex from the Middle Ages and Renaissance and visit the casemates.

The most important excursion destinations in Saarland

Saarlouis

Saarlouis sounds French and that is quite normal: France's Sun King Louis XIV had the city built in 1680, which is still characterized by historical fortification elements. The old town is largely a pedestrian zone and is rich in evidence of the French and later Prussian past. Narrow house fronts, wooden window shutters and mansard roofs characterize this unique cityscape.

Losheim am See

If you are looking for a break in a dreamlike environment, Losheim am See is the right place for you. Here there is a large bathing lake with numerous leisure activities for young and old: From a water slide, diving tower and water playground to water sports facilities and pedal boating to mini golf and fishing spots, there is something for everyone.

Relics of industry

Saarland is historically characterized by the coal and steel industry. In Völklingen is the only preserved ironworks in the world, which was shut down in 1986 - a unique testimony to the past industrial era. The Völklingen Hütte, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, today combines the past with the present and the future and offers exhibitions, festivals and concerts in a unique setting.

Culinary diversity in Saarland

In the gourmet region, the Savoir-Vivre is very important. The Saarland is known for its upscale cuisine and, thanks to the high number of Michelin stars in relation to the population, is one of the most popular regions for gourmets. The Victor's Fine Dining by Christian Bau in Perl-Nennig has been adorned with three Michelin stars since 2005. This makes Victor's Fine Dining one of only ten 3-star restaurants in Germany.

The family business of the Landhotel Saarschleife in Mettlach-Orscholz also received a special award from the Michelin Guide: the green star for special commitment to sustainability and exemplary awareness of nature and the environment. "Hauptsach, gudd gess", as they say in Saarland, is the main motto here.

Hiking paradise between Moselle and Saar

Not only the gourmet cuisine deserves five stars - nature too. A third of the Saarland is covered by mighty forests. No wonder it is a true hiking paradise: The most beautiful tours lead over the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig. The 410-kilometer-long hiking trail begins in Perl on the Moselle and runs via the Saarschleife near Mettlach to Boppard in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Enjoy the peace and quiet on narrow paths and soft forest floors and let yourself be enchanted by idyllic meadow landscapes along babbling brooks. For adventurers, steep descents, untouched moorlands and rugged cliffs offer exciting variety.

The Saarschleife is probably the most famous postcard motif of the Saarland. This landmark of the region is located in the spa town of Orscholz. A few kilometers away near Merzig you come to the home of the Viez, the Saarland apple wine. Stroll through the Garden of the Senses with its fragrant flowers or visit the Wolf Park.

In Weiskirchen, which is known as a health resort, five healing climate trails are available to you. The different levels of difficulty are suitable for every basic condition. There is also a climbing garden, an outdoor pool and a mini golf course. The ideal place for wellness & spa.
